Now that I’m spending more time on MLBTradeRumors, I’m remembering again what kind of idiots post comments over there. For instance:
-Maybe the Cubs should look into swapping Lee for Lowe. They could start Hoffpauir at 1B
Okay, first of all, I love Hoffy but he’s no Derrek Lee. He doesn’t have the power numbers. He hasn’t had much practice at first over the last couple of seasons so he’s not ready to take on being a full time 1B yet. Lest we forget that Lee has a full no trade clause.
-Josh Vitters, Geovany Soto and Ryan Dempster for Roy Halladay would be a win-win for both parties (as long as an extension can be reached (4 years 84M would seem in the ballpark)Toronto gets their starting catcher for the next 4-7 years, a quality inning eating starter (who PR it doesn’t hurt happens to be a Canadian)and a spec who is instantly the bet in their system.
So if you swap Dempster for Halladay, you’re still a starter short in terms of quality. And if you send Soto to Toronto, you’re out your full time starting catcher. This doesn’t make sense either.
-Lee is a perfect fit for ATL. I’ve always thought so. It seems like the Cubs will have to unload atleast one of those contracts. Ramirez and Lee seem like the 2 that would be easiest.
You know what you also didn’t think of? LEE HAS A FULL NO TRADE CLAUSE. And he certainly isn’t going to waive it to go to the Braves. If you unload Lee and Ramirez, you lose your offense, not to mention a couple of the best corner men that this team has seen in a long time. Plain and simple.
-Derek Lowe + Nate McLouth + Kelly Johnson for Derrek Lee + Kosuke Fukudome. And Fox could play 1B.
And you know what else? You’re an idiot. Fox is a natural outfielder, if that. He’s more of a DH, actually. Dude probably belongs in the AL. You want to replace one of the best first basemen in the NL with Fox? IDIOT.
